When clients come to work with me one of the first issues we tackle is that they are stuck in the friend zone with prospects. They’re busy and yet when they get honest, they’re busy but not on sales activity or having effective sales conversations.

- Endless 1-1’s that never result in a clear offer being made, even though you think they need your services.
- Over giving on calls and letting people “pick your brain” instead of hiring you to prove your value and build relationship capital.
- Leaving vague offers out there, where you say “let me know if you need support” or “reach out when you are ready”.
- Hoping you can just skip the sales conversation and the other party will just get it and give you their credit card.
Let’s be crystal clear: people don’t invest in unknowns.
They invest in clarity, conviction, presence and leadership and if you aren’t showing up with must-hire energy.
You don’t need to be louder.
You do need to be direct when you make an offer and invite people to make a decision (NOW).
Here are 3 tips on how to get out of the friend zone:
- Lead with the exact problem you solve and that you are the must hire.
- Be crystal clear that you are making an offer and that it is a direct path to the RESULTS they seek.
- Make unapologetic invitations and be clear on the next steps.
